Before hunting in the Colebaker, Te Puro and Te Karaka Memorial Scenic Reserves you must notify neighbouring landowners.

The Taupō Reserves and Conservation Areas hunting permit does include the Waituhi Kuratau Scenic Reserve on the south side of Highway 41.
A maximum of three dogs per hunter is permitted in the Taupō Reserves and Conservation Areas. A separate permit is required from the Taupō or Tūrangi DOC Office to use more than three dogs. No hunting is permitted in the Ōrongorongo/Wainui water collection area above North Boulder Stream, in the Catchpool Valley, or in the Ōrongorongo Valley within 200 m of the edge of the riverbed and within 200 m of the Ōrongorongo Track.
Dogs are permitted for hunting in Remutaka Forest Park. All dogs used for hunting must have current avian avoidance certificates, which must be carried when hunting. No dogs are permitted in Tūrere Stream catchment kiwi area.
Foot access via the Mukamuka Stream to South Saddle or Mt Matthew, requires permission from the Wharekauhau Station Manager if firearms, bows or crossbows and/or dogs are to be taken.
Foot access to Waiorongomai, requires permission from the Waiorongomai Station Manager if firearms, bows or crossbows are to be taken. Dogs are prohibited on private land.

Hunting or foot access is not permitted in the Westland Petrel Special Protected Area of the Paparoa National Park, from Punakaiki River to Lawsons Creek.

Hunting is not permitted south of the South Coast Track nor within 500 metres of the north side of the track. Hunting south of the track is by permission of the landowner only.

Permission is required from Branches Station prior to foot or vehicle access into the Upper Shotover/Sharks Tooth/Lochnagar/Ballarat Creek (via the Floodburn) hunting areas.
Routeburn Station's runholder must be informed prior to hunting in the Kinloch/Kōwhai Bush area.
No firearm shall be discharged within 500 m of Woodbine Station homestead.
